New Jersey Higher Education Environmental Compliance Project

The New Jersey Higher Education Environmental Compliance Project is a collaborative effort among New Jersey's higher education community. Through this project, nine of the State's colleges and universities are working together to assess their compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards, identify and disclose possible problems, and voluntarily correct any deficiencies. Through collaboration, training and self-audit, participating colleges and universities are helping to fulfill their commitment to meeting Environmental Protection Agency standards, while building their capacity for maintaining environmental compliance.

Ultimately, the Project will:

  • Provide significant cost savings to participating colleges and universities, savings that ultimately benefit students by relieving the need to raise tuition.
  • Support institutions' commitment to the health and well being of students, faculty and staff, and to good environmental citizenship.
  • Develop a state-wide resource network for any organization seeking information and guidance regarding environmental self-audits.

The New Jersey Higher Education Environmental Compliance Project is supported through the generosity of the following donors: Alcatel-Lucent, Commerce Bank, First Energy-JCP&L, The Foundation for Independent Higher Education/UPS National Venture Fund, IBM, McCarter & English LLP, Provident Bank, Public Service Gas & Electric, The Roche Foundation, Schering-Plough Foundation, Inc., The Schoor DePalma Community Foundation and Sordoni Construction.

The New Jersey Teacher Training National Accreditation Program

The New Jersey Teacher Training National Accreditation Program was established in 2003. Its goal is to help New Jersey's independent colleges and universities develop and implement uniform standards for professional education preparation programs in order to meet the State's newly established requirement for national accreditation. Ultimately the program will help strengthen public education in New Jersey by improving the quality of professional educators.

The Prudential Foundation, the Lucent Foundation and PNC Bancorphave provided generous support for this program that enables ICFNJ's member institutions with teaching programs to engage in education reform efforts that strengthen public education at the elementary and secondary levels.

While New Jersey's independent institutions educate only 17 perecent of the State's college students, they award 30 percent of the State's undergraduate education degrees.

The BD Higher Education and Leadership Training for Healthcare Program

BD and ICFNJ are working in collaboration to help to ensure that New Jersey's independent institutions of higher education are prepared to develop, encourage and sustain student interest, learning and achievement in disciplines which directly affect global healthcare needs. Together, BD and ICFNJ established the BD Higher Education and Leadership Training for Healthcare (HEALTH) Program. The Program is designed to facilitate the creation of a talented new generation of healthcare providers who will make significant contributions in helping people around the globe lead healthier lives.
