The scholarship programs listed below are administered through partnerships between the ICFNJ and the donors who sponsor them. ADP Science Scholarship

Founded in 1949, Automatic Data Processing (ADP) is one of the largest independent computing services in the world. With more than $7 billion in annual revenues and approximately 500,000 clients, ADP provides computerized transaction processing, data communications, software, and information services in virtually every industry. ADP also provides securities transaction processing and many industry-specific computing and consulting services. In addition, ADP employer Services is the world’s largest provider or payroll services and human resource information systems (HRIS).

For more than 25 years, ADP has been supporting students who pursue higher education with awards like the ADP Science Scholars Program.

The Automatic Data Processing (ADP) Scholars Program recognizes and promotes students who excel in science by awarding $3,000 scholarship to qualifying students. Eligible candidates must:

  • be entering their junior or senior year and enrolled full time at an ICFNJ member college or university;
  • possess a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale;
  • demonstrate an ability and significant desire to work independently on a research project;
  • currently work 12 or fewer hours per week (compensated or volunteer);
  • be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Applications for the ADP Science Scholarship are due March 31 for the following academic year.

C. R. Bard Foundation Nursing Scholarship

As a leading developer, manufacturer, and supplier of reliable health care products and services, C. R. Bard, Inc. is focusing its resources on new technologies in urology, oncology, and vascular medicine to advance the delivery of health care throughout the world. Bard's vision for the future is to continue to lead in developing technologies that support the rapidly emerging needs of health care well beyond just the treatment of disease. Bard is committed to helping prevent costly and life-limiting disease by supplying reliable products and services that support early detection, diagnosis, extended care and home health care.

In order to accomplish this goal, it takes more than just products, it takes people, qualified people, who care for others. By partnering with ICFNJ, it is the goal of the C. R. Bard Foundation Nursing Scholarship Program to support those who will eventually improve the quality of life for their patients.

The C. R. Bard Foundation Nursing Scholarship recognizes outstanding nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, and extracurricular activities and who are planning careers in the health industry by awarding $2,500 scholarships to qualifying students. Eligible candidates must:

  • be entering at least the second semester of their sophomore year, or the second semester of the second year of their nursing program, and be enrolled full time at an ICFNJ member college or university;
  • possess a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale;
  • demonstrate financial need as determined by the student’s financial aid director;
  • be interested in pursuing a career in the health industry;
  • be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Applications for the C. R. Bard Foundation Nursing Scholarship are due March 31 for the following academic year.

Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship

In the 2000-2001 academic year, The Coca-Cola Foundation, based in Atlanta, Georgia, expanded its Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship Program to include the colleges and universities affiliated with the Independent College Fund of New Jersey. The Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship Program, one of the Foundation's signature programs, is now offered at 382 schools in 31 U.S. states and 52 campuses in China. New Jersey was one of four locations that implemented the program in 2000-2001, along with Minnesota, New England, and New York. The scholarship award is $5,000 per year, annually renewable over a four-year period.

Coca-Cola First Generation Scholars are students who are the first in their families to attend college. They have strong academic credentials and a history of school and community involvement. Applications from new candidates are not being accepted at this time.

Liberty Mutual Scholarship Program
The Liberty Mutual Scholarship Program, administered jointly by the Foundation for Independent Higher Education (FIHE) and The Independent College Fund of New Jersey (ICFNJ), is awarded to full-time students at select colleges and universities, including those that are members of ICFNJ. Eligible candidates must have cumulative grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale, be matriculated as a junior at the time of application, and have an appropriate major and interest in working in a business environment.

Recipients of the Liberty Mutual Scholarships are eligible for and encouraged to participate in a paid internship during the summer between junior and senior years. Applications are due November 1st.

Martin R. Sullivan Memorial/PricewaterhouseCoopers Scholarship

The Martin R. Sullivan Memorial/PricewaterhouseCoopers Scholarship was created in memory of the late Martin R. Sullivan, a partner at Coopers & Lybrand, who had an interest in accounting education at New Jersey’s independent colleges and in the preparation of students entering the accounting profession. In the 1980s, his family, friends and former partners established an endowed scholarship at the Independent College Fund of New Jersey to assist high achieving students to prepare for careers in public accounting.

Eligible candidates must:

  • be enrolled at either Fairleigh Dickinson University, Monmouth University or Seton Hall University;
  • be entering their junior or senior year
  • possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale;
  • be majoring in accounting;
  • demonstrate superior academic performance and promise for a career in public accounting.

Applications for the PricewaterhouseCoopers/Martin R. Sullivan Memorial are due March 31 for the following academic year.

Merrill Lynch Business Scholarship

The Merrill Lynch Business Scholarship recognizes outstanding students planning a career in business or finance with an award in the amount of $2,500. Eligibility is limited to full-time students enrolled at Princeton University and Rider University. Awards are available to students entering their junior year who are majoring in business or finance related field and who demonstrate superior academic performance. Applicants must possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25. Financial need will be considered.

Teaneck Rotary Nursing Scholarship

The Teaneck Nursing Scholarship was created in 2003 to recognize outstanding nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and leadership. Eligibility is limited to Fairleigh Dickinson University students. Awards are available to students entering junior year who are taking a minimum of 12 credits in a nursing program. Preference will be given to Teaneck/Bergen County residents.

Scholarships that require nomination by the student's college or university financial aid office

BD Healthcare Scholarship

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) is a medical technology company that serves healthcare institutions, life science researchers, clinical laboratories, industry and the general public. BD manufactures and sells a broad range of medical supplies, devices, laboratory equipment and diagnostic products.

To recognize and reward students who are planning careers in the healthcare industry, BD offers scholarships to qualified juniors and seniors attending ICFNJ member institutions.

Joseph V. Doria, Jr. Community Service Scholarship

Endowed in 1989 by friends and colleagues of the Honorable Joseph V. Doria, Jr., this scholarship is available to students enrolled at Doria's alma mater, Saint Peter's College. The Scholarship embodies service to education and the community that Doria exemplifies. It is awarded annually to a Saint Peter's student who has demonstrated leadership in school, displays high academic achievement and shows financial need.

UPS Scholarship

In 1974, the UPS Foundation established an educational program with the Foundation for Independent Higher Education to support students attending independent colleges and universities throughout the country. Since that time, the program has provided more than $27.4 million in scholarships and student aid.

UPS Scholarships are available to full-time students in any major who possess a minimum GPA of 2.0.
